Lucindale Ladies Golf started their season of with a successful opening day. Wearing something pink to honour breast cancer awareness, the Ladies raised over $650 for this great cause with various raffles, pink ribbon golf balls and donations.
36 golfers crammed on the first tee block to hear Ladies Patron, Viv Hocking officially opened the 2014 season then invited current Club champion, Michelle Justin to tee off with the first ball. Cheering rang out as Michelle didn’t disappoint with an absolute first class drive, straight down the middle.
Playing in groups of three in a 9-hole Mexican Ambrose, golfers were pleased to see the end and seek refreshments from the sun.
The day’s winners were Rachel Smith, Cheryl Fitzgerald and Shannon Walker and runner’s-up Jill Redway, Fiona McInnes and Eliza Handbury.
NTP 3rd was Vanessa Stone and long drive winners for our new golfers were Nicole Hocking and Chiara Wachtel.
It was great to see new faces at our Opening Day and President Jill welcomed Shannon Walker, Cheryl Ryan, Eliza Handbury, Libby Creek, Cindy Savage, Tori Riggs, Nicole Hocking Sue Giles and Claire Elliot. These ladies are taking advantage of “Come Try Golf” coaching lessons at the club with returning new golfers, Fiona McInnes, Sue Giles and Chiara Wachtel.
